Industrial-size project relocation
Moving heavy machinery, complex production lines, sensitive lab equipment and more, is no longer seen as a simple logistics operation, but as an engineering operation involving all sorts of different disciplines.
It is not only the transportation of the machines, but also the proper disconnection and disassembly at the old location, the alignment and assembly at the new location, and the rigorous advance planning phase that makes it a complex undertaking.
This must all be done safely - for personnel and equipment - and comply with all laws. We can take this entire process off your hands so you no longer have to worry about it. Please contact us to discuss all options.
The most important phase of any project move
To ensure that everything runs smoothly and safely, every project move requires a detailed risk assessment and planning. This minimizes risks throughout the moving process, ensures minimal downtime and allows us to stick to deadlines as tightly as possible.
By performing everything safely and efficiently, we save a lot of costs from damage to machinery, longer-than-expected downtime in production and more.
How do we proceed? The technical execution
We tackle everything from start to finish. Turn-key. This ensures that you don't have to make a composite of four companies for your project move, but can put everything down to one party who will take care of everything for you.
We perform the following parts of the project relocation: risk assessment → planning → decoupling and dismantling → moving outside → transportation → moving inside → aligning and placing everything → assembly and coupling → testing and aftercare.
We can also support in temporary storage, lifting operations and any structural modifications to move machinery outside. Are you looking for a party that can take this off your hands? Feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.
The challenge of limited space
Project relocations are often done in parts, resulting in machinery and equipment having to be disassembled and assembled in an active production environment where space is limited.
Limited space with margins of only a few centimeters are no exception when maneuvering machines within active production environments. This requires not only extreme caution on the part of mechanics, but also the use of equipment and specialized techniques that occupy less space than traditional cranes.
Among other things, we specialize in dismantling and moving machines outside within limited space. Do you have a machine that is cramped but needs to be moved to another location? Contact us for your options.
Moving heavy machinery internally
In addition to dismantling the machines and plants, they also need to be moved outside or sometimes just moved internally. In these cases, we often use air cushion systems.
With jacks we lift the machines a few inches so we can install the air cushion system under the machine, once the air cushion system is installed we can easily move the machine.
Hydraulic jack systems are often used for vertical transport and bridging height differences. An auger lifts the heavy machine using hydraulic power, then it can be placed on a sled to be shifted horizontally without the need for wheels.
Downtime minimization
It is important for all companies to keep downtime to a minimum. The faster production can continue, the better. There are several strategies for project relocations to keep downtime to a minimum.
Phased relocation
One of the most widely used and effective strategies is a phased relocation. Instead of moving everything at once and requiring the new location to be fully ready immediately, we provide a temporary interim location for machine parts. This allows for a metered distribution to the new location so the installation teams can work more efficiently.
Turn-key projects
Turn-key projects are also highly recommended. This means we take care of everything for you, from planning to aftercare. This way, you do not have to work with four companies at the same time and coordination does not become a disaster. This ensures greater efficiency and thus minimal downtime for your operation.
Safety during a project move
Safety is always the priority. Safety of personnel and machinery is of utmost importance, for this reason it is the first thing we take care of. A rigorous risk assessment at the beginning of the project move allows us to identify all potential hazards. This allows us to prepare for them and eliminate the risks before they become a problem.
In addition, our staff has all the necessary certifications and experience from previous projects which gives them a unique insight into the process and how it can be done extremely safely. No accidents is essential and no damage to machinery saves a lot of unnecessary costs.
The economic impact of alignment
The benefits of professional alignment are directly measurable in operations. A correctly aligned machine uses less energy and has significantly lower maintenance costs due to reduced wear of bearings, seals and couplings.
In addition, machine tool life is increased and production quality increases due to less vibration. Arriving at the new location, we align each machine so you can take advantage of all the above benefits.
